Hi Sonya, thanks for making this interview possible.
Let's start.
1. The time is near the
launch of the new album Moonlight Waltz, What can you tell us how was the
process of composing music and lyrics on this album? What do the lyrics in this
album?
Yes,
the time is coming… "Moonlight Waltz” will be available starting January 14th,
2011 and I'm really excited, it's an important step in our career.
Our
new album has a strong sound with a dark and intense atmosphere and it took us
a long time to be realized. We decided to take our time without any pressure
and hurry staying in Temple of Noise studio 24 hours for a day checking
everything all the time, bringing something new every day because we consider
Moonlight Waltz one of the most important albums of our career. It was
wonderful and hard at the same time to organize all the ideas, writing down all
the songs and all the lines for the orchestra, chorus and violins keeping
intact our sound and at the same time expressing our deepest emotions with a
new energy.
This
is the reason why we decided to collaborate with the maestro Luca Bellanova for
the orchestral parts and what we have produced from this collaboration is
really great.
About
the last album I dedicated some of the lyrics to the magical feminine
seductiveness... Carmilla, Black Madonna, Medousa, three strong women with a
charming and seductive power that drives the men out of the way. They are
beautiful sorceresses but with a great sorrow in their hearts.
Black
Madonna talks about Mary Magdalene, the sinner and the saint, the Holy grail
and the harlot, the queen of mystery, the Salome…
Moonlight
Waltz is dedicated to Christina Rosetti , a talented English poet that I love
deeply. My words and her poetry "Is the Moon tired?" walks together to create
an inn to the moon, my pale lover.
2. How did the idea of
inviting musicians like Snowy Shaw, Cadaveria, Breznikar Eve in Moonlight
Waltz?
Some
of them, including some members of the orchestra and maestro Bellanova, are
close friends of us and it was great to live this experience together. About
the other guests we greatly appreciate their music and we really like it. We
also love their attitude and their way to interpret their music so we thought
it might be a good cooperation having them as guest stars in our songs leaving
them free to interpret our music with their particular style. Snowy Show is a
great artist with an excellent musical intuition and a great executor at the
same time. He really put his soul in what he does and he's a real professional
with a strong, special and amazing personality. I personally love all his music
projects. He sang in the central part of the first song on the album: Keeper of
Secret. Luca Bellanova did the most of the male backing vocals and he’s really
having a deep amazing voice. In Le Grand Guignol I alternate my voice to
Cadaveria scream and clean voice and about Eva she sang a part in Medousa.I
really enjoyed working with them.
We
have seen the video Carmilla, personally I think it was the best music video of
TDV. Why did you choose this song and how did the idea for the video?
This
is our best video, I’m agree with you. We had a good staff that followed us in
this project giving us their best.
I
felt in love for Carmilla novel years ago. The character of Carmilla is
charming, powerful, mysterious and seductive at the same time.
The
Video tells a part of her story taken from the novel by Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu
and our film director, David Bracci gave his interpretation of it with the help
of the talented actor Abraam Fontana who also made the Passion directed by Mel
Gibson …and the result is really…Theatres des Vampires...We filmed the new
video in two different castles in the woods around Ceccano, an old small city
not so far from Rome. These castles are really wonderful. One of them is
completely abandoned and overgrown... This is a magical and obscure place.
3. Will be the only video
for this album?
We're
thinking about a new one in these days…
4. Do you have a favorite
song on this new album? Why?
We
just finished recording Moonlight Waltz and I appreciate every single part of
it.
I
like Carmilla because I personally love the story but there’re so many great
songs in this album that it's really difficult to tell.
5. Would you consider
doing a live DVD of the next tour?
We'll
surely do a live DVD of the Moonlight Waltz tour that we're planning these days
with our tour Manager.
6. How has it been for
you to work with the recognized Argentine musician Beto Vazquez? He has told me
great things about you.
It
was a really nice experience. I like working with other artists that live so
far away giving my interpretation of their songs .His albums are international
projects that keep the metal music alive involving musicians from all part of
the was a pleasure for me to be a part of it and our fans appreciated "Council
of my Dreams” lot of…and this is the most important thing for me.
Question asked by Natalia Lujan from Argentina:
7. If TDV had the
opportunity to make a tour with a band of metal. Which band would you like?
Difficult
question… there’re so many good bands all around, let's see what's going on
next year …
8. The last time TDV had
to cancel many concerts in South America. TDV have fans from many countries
here awaiting their arrival seamlessly. What expectations do during his visit
to South America in 2011? This time the tour integrates more countries?
We
had some bad experiences about the organization of South American tours in
these years but the gigs we had at the end in Brazil and Mexico were really
good.
This
is the main reason for that we want to come again. We spent a great time there
and We love you, our fans in south America are hot and numerous and they show
us their love every single day, making fan clubs, forums, writing mails ,
sending us pictures and so on…we absolutely must come back visiting as much
countries as possible and playing for you our new songs.
9. I can't avoid making
you a question about my country, Argentina, how do you imagine? Would you like
to meet Buenos Aires and play here?
This
is a land I want to visit soon. I've never been there before. I saw so many
video and pics about it and Argentina is a huge country with beautiful nature
and a beautiful culture, it's amazing.
Me
gustara ver las pampas argentinas y la tierra de fuego.. .I'll tell you
something that I never said in any interview. My grandfather was a musician and
he moved to Argentina so long time ago…he lived and died in Comodoro Rivadavia
and now I have some relatives In Argentina and Brazil..
10. How is being the only
woman in the band? You had problems with this ever?
I
don't care about this thing. It's nice to be the only one and it was also nice
when Justine was in the band with me, she's still a great friend of mine and I
had so amazing and funny time with her. My band is like a family. They protect
me and help me in all bad situation, we always do everything together also
outside the band. Sometimes it happens that I get angry because my needs as a
woman are not completely understood... But I's perfectly normal. They’re men!
Instead it's hard to have a little bit of privacy when we're on tour with other
bands. But the love for our music is stronger than this and all what we want to
do is to be on stage giving every time our best.
11. At the scene of Metal,
What is your favorite singer male and female?
I
don't have favorite singers. I like different kind of voices and different kind
of music.
I
loved the voice of Peter Steele, Type o negative singer; he was a great
frontman and a great singer.
I
like Dave Gahan, Nick Cave, Mike Patton , Lemmy Kilmister, Ville Laihiala ,
Adrian Hates and others.
About
female voices I love Diamanda Galas, Bjork, Janis Lyn Joplin , Tory Amos, Kate
Bush, Tarja and more.
Question asked by Carlo A. Lira Gracia from Guatemala:
12. What do you think if
your life would never have existed TDV?
I
was a ballet dancer and a fashion designer so I would have done something about
my other passions…than I would have created TDV!
Question asked by Carlos Buensuceso Santos from Mexico:
13. How did you get
started in the addiction of blood?
We
were all born blood addicted…we need blood in our veins to survive…Blood has a
seductive and old power, it also represents the research of eternal life, the
seal of ancient oaths, the royal blood, the descendants of blood…
And
blood is life…
Question asked by Natalia Lujan from Argentina:
14. Are you a lover of
literature? What books do you read? and why?
I've
read many books since I was really young… I daydream most of the time and I
often lose the sense of all reality and reading the pages of my favorite
writers gives me the chance to live another life for a while. I can read a big
book in one night if I like it. They also give me a strong inspiration for my
lyrics. I love poems, novels, I love Percy Bysshe Shelley, Wosworth, Emily
Dickinson, Rossetti, Coleridge , Dante, Leopardi, Carducci, Foscolo, Polidori
and more…and obviousy Anne Rice.
15. I have read many
interviews of you, and I note that you have a strong denial to compromise and
to have children. Is there any reason?
I
do not like those who expect something from me; I don't like compromise because
I'm honest. I hate liars and all those who pretend to be someone else showing
me a fake image. I want to be myself and I want to be loved or even hated for
this.
But
after all I'm romantic cause I believe in true things and true people..I believe
in the eternal love..and the eternal hate…and I don't like the others children
cause they really annoy me , but one day I will totally love mine…my descendant
of blood..
16. What was the most
wonderful day of your life?
That
day is yet to come…
17. And what was the worst
day?
Our
life is made by several worst days…and we keep them closed in our hearts…
18. We will continue to
enjoy Theatres Des Vampires for many years to come?
Yes,
I cannot think to be without them, I cannot live without our music. Our songs
are our souls.
19. We are about to turn
the First year in our project of 'TDV Latinoamerica' I've seen and I am very
grateful for the messages we leave you and the rest of the band on our MySpace
and website. What do you think about it?
We
think you made a great work and I'm really enthusiastic about TDV
Latinoamerica.
The
layout is amazing and it's always updates...and you've got several pics I've
never seen before about us!…this is a real fanclub attitude.
20. We end the interview,
you want to leave a message to fans in Latin America?
Thanks
for your support and your never ending love, we promise to you to come back in
South America soon.
Thanks
to our fans, thanks for all what they have done during these years it is also
because of you all and your strong support that we got here today.
Thank you for giving your
valuable time to answer our questions. We'll be seeing you soon!
Thanks
guys
